SHBCC News Update – February 2024
Only eight weeks to go until the start of the season! However, if this rain doesn’t stop soon there won’t be a dry wicket anywhere. After a couple of dry days we have managed a first cut of the square and outfield at the Bridge. The Castle Ground is still very damp so little work can be done there at the moment.
Nets are progressing well with Senior and Junior sessions getting good numbers. Many of the juniors are involved in Pathways or Hub development sessions and there is also a bit of excitement around a few youngsters who will graduate to senior cricket this season.
We are also pleased to announce that following our signing of Manan Vohra (who, by the way, is hammering runs in the Indian version of our county system) we have secured two more good signings – Dean Coote from Malton CC and Jonty Moorhouse from Ouseburn, both potential 1st/2nd team players who will do well in “The Bridge” family. They are both very welcome.
We are delighted to announce that RAP are once again our main sponsor and we also welcome Portakabin, Browns and Ashtons to our list of sponsors. KITE will be our main shirt supplier.
We have put a call out for more volunteer help on the grounds and help with teas throughout the season. If you think that you help please get in touch, we are very friendly!
