SHBCC News Update – April 2024
As predicted the weather has taken its toll with all league fixtures now starting with week 2 with week 1 games being played on the late May Bank Holiday.
However, the SHB grounds team have worked tirelessly to get grounds fit to play enabling us to play two interclub friendlies on the 20th April.
We recently had some bad news and some good news! Bad news – Manan Vohra our overseas player has been withdrawn by his club in India. However good news – we have been able to retain the services of Hardick Tamore who has been in the Mumbai side that has won the Ranji trophy. He is an equally impressive signing and will contribute to coaching the juniors and seniors. We have also a recruited another young Indian who will be a great asset to the 2nd team. More on this when full details are available but suffice to say he is in the Dehli IPL academy.
Indoor nets have finished and now the boys are desperate to get on grass and turn the winter work into runs and wickets.
Work day was a great success with a good turnout and lots of jobs done. We still however need help on ground preparation and general maintenance so if you are keen to help just let Vince, our club secretary, know and you will be made welcome – 07850332728. The more the merrier.
At the time of writing, we have 2 young players in regional sides this year Oli Lamb and Zac Powell. As with the seniors, all junior matches have been put back with the coaches re-arranging as best they can.
Hopefully by the time the May News is produced we will have some cricket to report on!
