SHBCC News Update – January 2024

The club are delighted to announce that we have secured the services of Manan Vohra as the new club professional. Manan comes with a wonderful pedigree having spent several years in the Indian Premier League playing 56 times. His highlight is probably 67 in the 2014 final for Kings XI Punjab and he also has had international honours with India U19s. He replaces Dulash Udayanga who has been with us for several years and has decided to try pastures new. We wish him well – he was a great servant to the club and leaves with every blessing.

Manan will not only play for the club but wants to get involved in the development of players especially the juniors. It will be a golden opportunity to rub shoulders with him as a player and as a coach. Come and see him play this summer, hopefully he might bring some Indian sunshine!

The rest of the current news comes from the new management team as they settle into their various roles in the club. They all know regardless of individual titles or roles it is imperative that together we raise funds to redevelop the club house at Moor Farm which needs serious work.

As announced last month the club has secured sponsorship again from RAP, an asphalt recycling company. To that we can add Reynolds Garages at Selby, Ashton’s Estate Agents and, fingers crossed, hoping to have another major new sponsor for the new coloured kit. If anyone has local contacts who may be willing to help in any way, please contact Mark Fisher or any member of the club who will pass on any details. We have at least one big opportunity to sponsor the club and have your name up front and prominent! Come and find out.

Junior nets have started at The Galtres Centre in Easingwold with Senior nets starting at St Olaves on Sunday 28th at 7pm to 9pm.
