Week Five Round Up: cold Scarborough days, catches and winning matches!

The U15s kicked off the week with a visit from Heworth at SHBCC. Unfortunately, the lads didn’t have the greatest of evenings and lost.

Wednesday saw the U9s in action at Heworth whilst the Pilmoor side made the trip across to the picturesque village of Newburgh.Batting first, the U9s finished 274 for 2 from their 12 overs with Oliver Lamb (23) and Theo Foster (16) top scoring for SHBCC. They then restricted Heworth to 226-3 to win by 48 runs! Very well done to all the U9s who are having a brilliant season so far.

As for the Pilmoor, the lads continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive win at Newburgh. Bowling first, SHBCC restricted Newburgh to 70-7 with youngsters Joe Judge and Alex Eardsley taking 5 wickets between them. This was then knocked off for 1 with good knocks from Arthur Campion and Dan Cass.

The U11s game against Malton and Old Malton on Friday was unfortunately cancelled as our opponents couldn’t raise a side.

The boys over at Scarborough

For the 1s, Saturday played place to a visit to North Marine Road to play Scarborough 1s, whilst the 2s hosted Hull Zingari 2s at Moor Farm.

For the 2s, after Hull Zingari made 270-5 from their 50 overs, SHBCC were 113-2 from 26 overs before rain meant the game had to be abandoned. A big mention goes to Skipper Jack Hugill who made his 2nd half century of the season; finishing 66* before the rain came.

As for the 1s, the lads will feel disappointed after last week’s victory again Yorkshire Academy. Batting first, SHBCC made 239-7 with Louis Foxton (60) and Arthur Campion (53) sharing 93 for the first wicket. Scarborough then knocked the score off 5 down with 6 overs left with a century from their captain Sam Drury. With games for both senior sides on bank holiday Monday they will be hoping to put right wrongs from Saturdays games and get back to winning ways for the Bridge – catch their results on next week’s round up!
