Matt Fisher makes Test debut!
With a little luck through injury and sickness to his fast-bowling colleagues Matthew Fisher was called into the team for the second test against the West Indies; he received his “Test Cap” from skipper Joe Root just before the toss. England elected to bat and so Matty had a nervous wait before he actually took the field. He eventually got to the crease and faced only a few balls before Joe Root declared; at least he survived!
When it came time to bowl, he was given the new ball with Woakes and managed to take a wicket with his second ball in test cricket – something he will never forget. He continued to bowl well on day three without much success although he was creating chances. His economy remains good at less than three per over. He will have more opportunities on days four and five.
The club has shown its pride in Matty with so many congratulatory messages, it’s also lovely to see these coming from the wider local cricket community.
