Bank Holiday Knocks
As yet another cricket filled bank holiday crept up on us, it played fixture to 2 games for our senior teams. Over at Beverley, the 2s had their opponents 70-3 before the rain came and halted any chance of a game. Whilst at Moor Farm, the weather was a lot better as the 1s took on Stamford Bridge. After being put in to bat, SHBCC finished their 50 overs 246-5 with superb knocks from Tommy Hudson (74*), Karl Carver (62) and Adam Fisher (46). During the 2nd innings, the lads restricted Stamford Bridge to 136-8 from 41 overs with Matthew Fisher (3-16) and Dulash Udayanga (2-21) starring with the ball.
For the rest of the club, Matchweek 6 was a rather quiet one for SHBCC as only the U13s had a game during the week.
Unbeaten Pilmoor Run Continues
Wednesday saw the Pilmoor team continue their winning run as they took on Thirsk. Batting first, SHBCC finished their 18 overs 130-5 with Harry Sutcliffe (37) leading the charge. In reply, Thirsk finished 119-5 after Isaac Giannini (1-8 from 3) really halted any chance of a Thirsk win. The train continues for the Pilmoor lads with Helperby up next.
Bridge Do The Double
Saturday played part to both senior team’s second games of the week, seeing the 2s travel to Pickering whilst the 1s played high flying Dunnington at home.
With the 2s hoping to finally get a game of cricket in, they managed to bowl Pickering out for a remarkable 126; with Dave Henstock finishing with 3 for 25. Then, Bridge fought hard, after being in a vulnerable position, to knock the total off 8 down after solid contributions from Mike Smith (27*), Isaac Giannini (23) and Tom Wilson (22); which sealed a nervy win for the 2s!
As for the 1s, they faced top of the table, Dunnington. Fielding first, SHBCC restricted Dunnington to 173-6 in 50 overs with Karl Carver (3-42) and Eddie Barnes (2-33) in the wickets. In reply, the lads managed to knock the score off with both Louis Foxton (51) and Karl Carver (51*) – scoring half centuries in the process. With 16 from a possible 20 points this week the 1s will be happy to be getting back to winning ways!
